| Name: | Maja |
|---|
Maja was actually born at High Reaches Weyr and raised there, though
she left when her father died, 6 turns ago. Only those who were either
children 6 turns ago and may have attended Harper lessons with her,
those who knew her father or those Harpers who taught her would
remember her. Her father's name was S'ten, the rider of brown
Ingvarth, and he was much older than most first fathers. Brown
Ingvarth, at 30 turns, was still able to chase the less nimble and
older greens, and so it was that her father, at 52, was blessed with
his first daughter. He had only recently, for reasons known to only
him, decided that taking his medicine was no longer so important.
Maja's mother was named Adrian, a 28-turn-old trader who took no
interest in her daughter once she was born-- Adrian was a very busy
lady, and had not wanted any children in her life (not to mention any
sort of prolonged relationship with S'ten). She left the Weyr six
months or so after Maja was born, very rarely returning on anything
but trading business to visit her child.
Maja was raised by her father and is on all accounts a daddy's girl,
and though she would resent being called a girl she did love her
father very much. Her father was a very strict man (and never skipped
on his medicine again after she was born), running Maja's life as
regimented as possible. Along with her Harper lessons, her father
taught her self-defense. Maja grew up with a very masculine role
model, learning the importance of honor and that time gone unused
wisely is wasted. When Maja was 14 and her father 66, he was killed in
threadfall from what many claimed was old age and slowed reflexes. She
was quite devastated, leaving the Weyr and searching for a place in
life with the kind of role model she had had in her father as well as
the kind of strictly planned day-to-day activities she was used to.
Not traveling far (although far enough), she arrived at Keogh near
Nabol and signed up for the guards. She has lived and worked between
Nabol and Keogh for six turns, honing her skills at self-defense. Only
recently has she returned to visit her old home, facing down old
sadness and searching out old faces.
